Iridium plug


Torch Iridium plug£¨1£©
¡ñ Uses iridium tip with 0.6mm diameter for the center electrode. This lowers the required voltage and greatly improves ignitability.

The finer the electrodes, the bigger the potential at the electrode tip and the stronger the electrical field, so the lower the required voltage. Therefore, reliable combustion is obtained over a wide range of running conditions from engine starting to acceleration.

¡ñ The electrodes have been taken to the limit of fineness, so the contact area with the flame core is small, the quenching effect is reduced, and the ignition performance is improved.
¡ñTorch Iridium plug can replace almost all normal spark plugs in China and overseas. When replacing normal spark plugs please check part number chart.
¡ñ For normal engines, replace with the same heat range as the spark plugs being replaced; for a changed engine, select spark plugs that
match the tuning level.

Torch Iridium plug has a low required voltage and a high ignitability, resulting in less misfiring, the outcome being a dramatic improvement in combustion. Engine output is thus increased. The findings of a bench test using a motorcycle engine to show the improved combustion from Torch Iridium plug is shown on the below. Compared to normal plugs, a 0.5ps (1.4%) improvement is seen in output at 110km/h.

Why Iridium Plug Has so many Advantages?
Plug electrodes conventionally have used nickel and platinum. These were not pure metals, but alloys containing other metals. Depending on the composition of the alloy, the matrix material's properties can be maximized. Using the same approach, iridium is alloyed with platinum and palladium, which helps iridium to get even better comprehensive performance. TORCH was able to make diameter of the iridium 0.6mm.
The most important things for plug performance are ignitability and sparkability. TORCH has succeeded in commercializing the 0.6mm diameter center electrode plug.
The finer the electrode, the more concentrated the electrical potential and the stronger the electrical field strength becomes, leading to a lower required voltage. This results in a steady combustion in a variety of driving conditions, and better starting and acceleration for the engine.
Specifications Include Terminal


A terminal nut is attached that fits with most of the world's spark plug cables. Please remove the nut for installations that do not require one. Spark plug with solid terminal nut cannot be removed.

All Torch Iridium plug plugs include a highly reliable, 5,000 ohm resistor specification to reduce electromagnetic noise that may affect electronic devices. (For all plug types)

Projected Center Electrode
In order to improve ignitability, the center electrode protrudes more than with conventional type plugs This improves both acceleration response time and performance


Taper-cut Ground Electrode
The tip of the ground electrode is cut to a fine taper to reduce the adverse effects of quenching, which greatly improves fuel ignitability. Also, because of the streamlined, taper-cut shape, the fuel-air mixture spreads more evenly in the gap, resulting in steady, reliable igniting of combustion.
Insulator Projection
The projection of the insulator is optimally designed based on each plug's thermal value. This corresponds to requirements unique to thermal value, such as self-cleaning ability at lower thermal values, and heat resistance at higher thermal values. (For all plug types)
0.6 mm Diameter Iridium Center Electrode
Using a new iridium alloy with a very high melting point, the tip of the electrode can be made very fine. This enables the reduction of voltage necessary to cause the spark, and greatly improves ignitability. Moreover, the special iridium alloy used was specially developed by TORCH.
